Good morning. Welcome to Whitwick & District U3A.

May we remind you that the next general meeting and talk is next month. Further details are provided below.

What is U3A? It stands for University of the Third Age, but not in today's accepted meaning of the word. It is a community of people like yourself - third agers, people no longer in full-time employment. It is a non-political and non-religious organisation.

We take part in group activities, which are central to all U3As. We have over 40 such groups where we learn from each other and from direct experience, rather than being taught in a formal setting . There is no formal structure of assessment or awards. Any member can, and is encouraged to, form a new group within their own area of interest or expertise.

Our membership is drawn from North West Leicestershire, primarily from the Whitwick / Coalville area and other nearby towns and villages. Our general meetings are held on the 3rd Friday of the month at Broomleys Church Hall at 2.00 pm. You are most welcome to come along and find out more.

Calling smart phone users. Do you have a smart phone that you only use for making calls and perhaps taking photographs? Would you like to understand better how it works? Would you like to be able to use it confidently and make more use of its capabilities? We are really pleased that we can offer you a short course to help you do just that - get the most out of your smartphone. Please contact: Lynda, groups at whitwicku3a dot org dot uk, to register your interest.

Is your guitar tucked away and hardly used? Are you looking for an opportunity to play again? Do you just need someone to start a Group to get you playing again? This could be the good news you are waiting for. One of our members would like to start a Guitar Group and needs you to join too. All you need is enthusiasm - and a guitar. If you're interested, please contact Lynda groups at whitwicku3a dot org dot uk

A chance to have a Ukulele Ecperience. Would you be interested in joining a new ukulele group? New players can't usually strum a note when they get started so it doesn't matter if you have never picked up a ukulele before. All you need is an interest in getting together to have some fun making music in our U3A community, as playing is the best way to learn. Local community group GO UKULELE CRAZY have offered to host a taster session for us so, if you'd like to come along and have a go, at no cost and with no commitment, please register your interest at talks at whitwicku3a dot org dot uk and we'll fix up a date and a venue.

For more information on the whole range of interest groups, including their meeting arrangements, please look at the Groups page.
