Peter returns to complete his trilogy of talks on the history of the 78 rpm record. This final chapter covers the latter days of 78s. By the time we reach the early 1950's, classical music lovers had migrated en masse to the LP. Jazz fans were doing the same. This left the 78 as the exclusive medium of popular music. In Britain, the first record charts were produced. This was a time of very high sales of discs. People remember it as the rock 'n' roll era - but that is far from the whole story.
