Alan Gray M.B.E. - 'You cannot be serious': Tales of a Wimbledon umpire 1988- 2012
Born and educated in St.Andrews and Edinburgh, Alan has been playing self-confessed "mediocre" tennis for over 60 years and first went to Wimbledon as a spectator in 1961.
He officiated as an Umpire and Line Judge for 25 consecutive years and was a Linesman on 6 finals including Becker v Sampras and Agassi v Ivanisovic. Now retired from work and tennis officiating, his sporting "masochistic" tendencies continued when he took up golf a few years ago.
