Whitwick & District U3A - Confidence in Water
This is a short-course group.
It would benefit people who are a little unsure of themselves in water and
would like to be more confident, or for people who would like to brush up on
their technique or attempt a new challenge (e.g. lifting their feet off the
bottom of the pool or jumping in or swimming a width/length).
Members with all different levels of ability are invited, but the course might benefit those who would like to overcome any particular difficulties or fears. Four people in the class would be an appropriate number for safety reasons. One-to-one help will be given in the water, not from the poolside.
Comments from previous courses
It was something I wanted to do for more than 20 years and not had the confidence to try, but knowing the Group Leader makes such a difference.
When, after only 3 weeks, I managed to swim free style, the Group Leader applauded and got even more excited that even I did.
Hermitage Leisure Centre, Whitwick
Another six week short course Water Confidence class will start on Wednesday November 7th at 12 noon. As for previous classes, these will be held at the Hermitage Leisure Centre at Whitwick. The class would benefit people who are perhaps a little nervous of being in water, and as each person's needs and abilities are different, will aim to improve general confidence as well as stroke technique, breathing, floating, being under water, jumping in or attempting to go that extra distance eg a width or a length. The group leader will be Joyce Clarke and she will be in the water with you and not shouting from the poolside. A maximum of four people can be accommodated to ensure individual attention. Each session will last for about an hour and the cost will be £3.80 per session. If you have been on a previous course, you would be welcome to attend this one also. Why not come and take the plunge? It's fun !!!
