Whitwick & District U3A - Music Appreciation
Do you like listening to classical music? If you come along to this group you can join us in attending monthly lunchtime concerts at Emmanuel church in Loughborough from October through to March / April each year and to other concerts that we feel may be of interest to group members.
During the winter months we meet at Emmanuel Church, Loughborough.
Generally the 3rd Thursday of the month. We meet inside the church hall at 11.45am for a light lunch before the recital which starts at 12.45pm..
Thu Jan 17th - We will be able to listen to Simeon Walker, a native of Loughborough, who is at the forefront of the modern Classical piano scene. In the last year he has achieved glowing reviews, had numerous radio broadcasts, notably on BBC Radio 3, and completed a very successful 8-date European tour
Thu Feb 21st - This concert at Emmanuel Church has a programme including a variety of virtuoso music for cello and piano layed by Gabriel Deqhani and Jeremy Kimber.
Thu Mar 21st - At the Lunchtime Concert in Emmanuel Church, Loughborough, we will be able to hear 2 virtuosic quintets from the Capriccio Ensemble.
Thu Apr 11th - This will be the last Lunchtime Concert of the 2018/2019 season at Emmanuel Church in Loughborough. The Capriccio Ensemble are back again with Paul Patterson for an arrangement of 'Peter and the Wolf' by Prokofiev. The concert starts at 12.45pm but lunch is served from 11.45am.
Tue May 21st - The lunchtime concerts at Emmanuel Church in Loughborough officially finished in April but a concert is being held there in May at 12.45pm when Timothy Ling-Chung Wong will be giving a recital of music including Schumann's 'Papillons'. Timothy is an exchange student from Hong Kong who is currently studying at Nottingham University and is said to be a fabulous solo pianist. Unlike the usual concerts there will be no lunch served beforehand.
