Whitwick & District U3A - WAD History Group
Objective
Whitwick and District u3a began in the autumn of 2008. The WAD History group is being established to research the history of our u3a ready for the 20th anniversary in 2028. Although our current WAD membership is over 300, there are only nine of the 2008 founder members still with us, plus 20 who joined in 2009 and four in 2010. If we don't research WAD's history now, the likelihood is that memories and records will be lost forever.
2026
The plan is to hold an initial meeting at the end of January, during which we can pool everyone's ideas on what can be researched and how we can go about it. After a year or so of research the focus might switch to what we should do with the results: a book? film? exhibition? talk? celebration? nothing? There isn't a definitive plan, this will develop as we go along based upon the ideas of group members.
